[ Mr. SANDERS ] Mr. President, let me begin by thanking my friend from Virginia for doing what is very important. I think the essence of what he is saying is that today there are millions of Federal employees, people in the Armed Forces, who are doing the very best they can. In many instances, they are doing a great job to protect our country, to keep it safe. And very often, to be honest with you, these folks get dumped on. So it is important that people such as Senator Warner come here and point out individuals who are doing a great job, people of whom we are very proud. So I thank Senator Warner for that.
Mr. President, as I think everyone knows, President Obama and the Republican leadership have reached an agreement on a very significant tax bill. In my view, the agreement they reached is a bad deal for the American people. I think we can do better.
I am here today to take a strong stand against this bill, and I intend to tell my colleagues and the Nation exactly why I am in opposition to this bill. You can call what I am doing today whatever you want. You can call it a filibuster. You can call it a very long speech. I am not here to set any great records or to make a spectacle; I am simply here today to take as long as I can to explain to the American people the fact that we have to do a lot better than this agreement provides.
Let me enumerate some of the reasons I am opposed to this agreement.
“As of 5 p.m. on Friday, with calls still coming in, 3,485 people from all 50 states had called Bernie’s Washington, D.C. and Burlington, Vt. offices. The support was overwhelming: 96 percent of the callers on Friday said they supported Bernie’s more than 8½-hour speech that criticized the president’s tax cut deal with Republicans.” -Sen. Bernie Sanders Facebook
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) wrapped up an 8 ½ hour speech, or what his office called a “tax cut filibuster” on the Senate floor opposing the White House and Republican compromise on tax cuts and unemployment benefits. He began his speech at 10:25am saying, “I am simply here today to take as long as I can to explain to the American people the fact that we have got to do a lot better than this agreement provides.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders is fighting long and hard to stop the tax cuts for the wealthy. Watching Bernie Sanders engage in his filibuster was outright invigorating. Sanders offered the truth. Real rhetoric, real passion, real indignation. Not artifice, not calculation, not capitulation.
One of his other speeches entitled “Bernie Sanders Amazing Speech”has hit close to 700,000 views on youtube and has been proven truth by politifact.com. Would you expect anything less from Sen. Sanders? Take a look

Do you approve of the tax cuts for the rich or are you against them?
Bernie Sanders Amazing Speech in Text
Mr. President, there is a war going on in this country, and I am not referring to the war in Iraq or the war in Afghanistan, I am talking about a war being waged by some of the wealthiest and most powerful people in this country against the working families of the United States of America, against the disappearing and shrinking middle class in our country. The reality is that many of the nation’s billionaires are on the war path. They want more, more, more. Their greed has no end and apparently there is very little concern for our country or for the people of this country if it gets in the way of the accumulation of more and more wealth and more and more power.
Sen Bernie Sander, an Independent from Vermont, speech has hit over 199k views in just 3 days. The video is being posted and viewed by thousands every second. The speech itself is amazing. He is talking about the war breaking lose between the super wealthy and the middle class. If anyone is familiar with the book written by Harvard Professor Niall Ferguson “The Acent of Money”. It talks about this very moment in history over and over again, happening in almost every great collapse of society. When the rich take all the money, the society collapses to third world society. This is exactly what happened to the great roman empire. The big question is, is this going to happen again? With major corporations and lobbyist funding a large majority of the republican party, anyone can see who is trying to make the rich more powerful and more rich. Watch the speech. Listen to his words and decide for yourself. The real question is do you believe in what he is saying or do you think he is just a crazy socialist?
I believe in you Senator.
